Football is the name of several similar team sports, all with similar origins which involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball with the foot in an attempt to score a goal. The most popular of these sports worldwide is association football, more commonly known as just "football" or "soccer". However, the word football is applied to whichever form of football is the most popular in each particular part of the world. Hence, the English language word "football" is applied to "gridiron football," a name associated with American football and Canadian football, Australian rules football, Gaelic football, Rugby league, Rugby union and some related games. These variations are known as "codes".

How do you become a football manager and how competitive is it?
Q. I would love to be a football manager, I have extremely good tactical play and strategical formations that I can pick up instantly and everytime I see a football game I always end up commenting on space that's available or where the ball could/should go etc.. How competitive is it to get into football management without being a proffessional footballer yourself?

A. 1. Well... you have to get coaching badges first. It also doesn't hurt having a university degree in either psychology, economy, or sports management. 2. You need to find a job in the lowest league possible and work your way up. If you can't find a job... go to a premier or championship team and become a coach and then work your way up. Good Luck man... it's very competitive.

What makes a football game at your high school more than just a football game?
Q. What sorts of things does your school promote to create a sense of community, pride, and fun at your high school football games? In short, what makes going to a game at your school different from every one else?

A. - For every homecoming game we have a different theme ('08 was Disney themed) and the cheerleaders had their cheers centered around different songs. For example "I just can't wait to be king" from the Lion King - We have the shirtless boys who paint numbers and names on their chests and stand out in the freezing cold - We have blackout games (Everyone wears black) - We embarass teachers and freshman at our Pep Rally every year. One kid always dresses up as our mascot = Rosie the Ram. - A lot of red, white and blue (our school colors) - The list goes on and on
