Animals are a major group of mostly multicellular, eukaryotic organisms of the kingdom Animalia or Metazoa. Their body plan eventually becomes fixed as they develop, although some undergo a process of metamorphosis later on in their life. Most animals are motile, meaning they can move spontaneously and independently. Most animals are also heterotrophs, meaning they must ingest other organisms for sustenance. Most known animal phyla appeared in the fossil record as marine species during the Cambrian explosion, about 542 million years ago. From Wikipedia under the

Q. What is a animal scientist? What does an animal scientist do? What does a veterinary technician do that an animal scientist doesn't do? Can u work as a veterinary technician with a animal science degree? Can u open up a "veterinary clinic(a clinic)" with a animal science degree? Please answer all of my questions if possible with detail. If u have any more information about animal science and veterinary technology please feel free to let me know. Thank you in advance for answering my questions. Asked by zaakirahm@att.net - Tue Feb 10 11:35:05 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Answers for questions 1 and 2: An animal scientist is anyone who studies a type or types of animals. It is a very wide, open field that can cover everything from genetics to ecology to behavior and it covers any animal that the scientist wishes to study. Usually an animal scientist will focus on a certain group of animals and a certain topic within that field. Answers for questions 3 and 4: A veterinary technician is specifically trained to assist a veterinarian in the care and treatment of animals. A veterinary technician focuses more on the care of many types of animals rather that just one or two. That being said, vet techs and animal scientists overlap. Yes, you can be a vet tech with a degree in animal science, however, there is a… [cont.] Answered by Creed H - Tue Feb 10 12:58:10 2009 What animal experiences the most daylight hours each year? Q. This is referring to one specific type of animal. For the amount of daylight, it is referring to the average amount that each member of that type of animal receives. Asked by sean w - Fri May 9 14:20:00 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Swallows are near the top as they fly thousands of miles twice each year to raise young in summer both NTH & STH, but i would think it is Artic Tern that flys between The Soviet Union Polar regions in the Artic to South Australia, Tasmania & The Antartic coast. The Artic Terns enjoy hunting $ feeding in 18 to 24hr days. Answered by Phantom - Sun May 11 08:47:19 2008 What are the alternatives to animal testing?
Q. When researchers need to develop a drug or medication that will ultimately benefit multitudes of people, they turn to certain animals for tests and trials. Animals have provided us with many answers regarding a vast amount of human diseases of illnesses over the years. As a famous ad once said: "They've saved more lives than 911." For those of you who are opposed to all forms of animal testing, would you please give suggestions or alternatives to these methods? I'm sure many of you already have some good ideas. Human testing is a good point, except it's pretty much illegal. 911 as in emergency response...but ok. Asked by SADFHorde - Sun Jul 9 21:39:25 2006 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. Cells are a pretty fair method of testing new drugs. In simplest form, you can just squirt some drug in a dish of cells and see if the cells die, divide, become members of congress, whatever. It's cheaper than animal testing, and can produce quicker and more solid results. Plus, Pinky and The Brain get to run free. In the US, most cells that are used for this purpose come from very specific lines or lineages. This is because different types of cells will respond very, very differently to drugs, so you need a lineage of cells whose responses are stable and repeatable in different labs. Unfortunately, normal human body cells cannot be maintained in lineages like this. Most cells will only divide a few times under even the best of… [cont.] Answered by Tenley_S - Mon Jul 10 05:18:05 2006 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Animal" This page is for quotes about animals.
