Afrikaner of Afrikaanse?
Q. Wouldn't it be better to drop the word Afrikaner and consign it to the dustbin of history and use the word Afrikaanse, i.e. someone who speaks Afrikaans. This, I feel, would do a lot to help the cause of Afrikaans that seems to feel so under threat these days and also help throw off the burden of apartheid and Afrikaner nationalism that always overshadow the language. People always fail to note that Afrikaans originated in the mouths of the Cape Coloureds and white Afrikaners are a minority within the spectrum of native Afrikaans speakers. What do you guys think? Would it be better to think less nationalistically in order to save "die moedertaal"? PS I love the Afrikaans language and hate the way the Boere nationalists hijacked it and… [cont.]

Nobody hijack Afrikaans and you know it too well You try to wish as away but it won't happen it will only makes us stronger as history proofed it. Why can't you except this as a realty and move on First of all you said Afrikaans was first spoken by cape colourds what proof do you got?
