What really makes the AFRIKANER (As in Afrikaans speaking South Africans) culture?
Q. Volskspele and the songs that went with them was created by the FAK and does not come from the VOLK. What in your opinion, culturally really defines us Afrikaans speaking Africans. (Especially the opinion of NON Afrikaans Africans)

A. the way you love your language, and the pride you have to be afrikaans. the way you fight over girls, or rugby, or girls and rugby. the way you feel that rugby was invented by the afrikaners. the way you talk. the way you walk. and sokkie. i mean really, who does close dancing to techno?

Suggestions, which is your favorite name out of these, and opinions?
Q. Ok so Im going to be an uncle from my wife's side for the first time in about a week's time. We are all South African. The father of the baby boy is an Afrikaner and the mother is (English speaking) South African. They asked my wife and me for the naming but both of us are (English speaking) South Africans. They asked us for opinions and other suggestions. Frankly I cant think of suggestions for other names because I dont know many Afrikaans names. The list they have so far is Stephan Morne (pronounced Mor-nay) Jannie (pronounced Yan-nie) Johan (pronounced Yo-han) Charl (pronounced Sharl) Frederik Rudi Ettienne (pronounced Et-tee-enn) Zander Reuben Andre Maarten Oh yeah their last name is De Villiers. I lived in district 6 on which district 9 is based and can't see what the great fuss is about?
Q. District 9 is derivative and steals from many other sources (The Fly/Terminator/Robocop... The only good guy in the movie is a white Afrikaner (who cusses all the time) while all the blacks are painted very bad (Nigerians are drug pushers). Sounds pretty racist to me. When are the real South Africans gonna make a good movie on themselves, I wonder.

A. when influence is admitted, its no longer stealing. and what about the white guys who wanted to kill the guy and exploit the aliens? or the PMCs? it wasn't just the blacks that were made into bad guys, everyone in the movie aside from a few aliens and the main guy were bad guys.
